Multimedia Specialist
Job Title: Multimedia Specialist
Department: Marketing and Public Relations
Reports To: Director, Marketing and AdvertisingPrimary Functions
Creates a range of web and video-based projects from concept to production, providing the Institute with communications multimedia and materials to effectively represent GIA’s products, services, accomplishments, and points of view to customers and the public in accordance with determined Marketing/PR initiatives, by performing the following duties
RESPONSIBILITIES
Creates and manages the design, production, programming and maintenance of all Institute micro sites
Supervises and organizes all resources for video production and post-production; including collecting existing video and graphic assets, shooting raw footage, digitizing it, editing and adding visual and audio effects, producing VHS, DVD, Mini-DVD or web-ready content
Coordinates content and graphics for use in the video production and web process; obtains necessary releases; researches, reviews and negotiates appropriate licenses for music and graphic images used
Acts as the department’s technical expert in matters relating to e-commerce applications, PeopleSoft portal environments, and the Rhythmyx content management system, including creating user interfaces and building web pages using existing graphic templates, as well as creating new templates; training other staff, troubleshooting problems and issues, and performing routine web content updates as needed
Designs, creates and deploys web banners, tile ads, as well as interactive collateral, and provides additional graphic and technical support to the Marketing department as needed
Acts as project liaison with outside vendors, intra-company departments and IT personnel and communicates highly technical issues regarding graphic design, video, web and other technical matters

Assists and supports Institute departments in their efforts to perform multimedia design
Communicates effectively, gets along with coworkers and management, and deals with others effectively and professionally under pressure
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Video/Film, Graphic Design or Marketing from four-year college or university; and three to five years demonstrated project management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated strong graphics background and a portfolio with emphasis on website design and multimedia presentations.
Knowledge and understanding of video and web production processes, and the procedures of marketing, including promotional concepts, artistic design and effective layout, web page presentation design and production. Adept user of content management systems. Able to read, interpret, edit, write and debug various forms of computer code including XHTML/CSS, JavaScript, and ActionScript. Expert at creating table-less XHTML/CSS based layouts for web page production. Comfortable working in both PC and Mac environments.

Macromedia Dreamweaver
Apple Final Cut Pro (video editing)
Compressor (video compression)
Apple DVD Studio Pro (DVD authoring/production)
Adobe After Effects (limited use) (video effects)
